About the Journey

Society tells us to go to school, make awesome grades, pass all tests with flying colors, graduate college with a degree, get a high paying job, marry someone just as successful, make lots of money, buy a big house, drive an expensive car, dress in designer clothes, and then raise children to carry on the process. Credit cards are the new money. Hummers are the new minivan. Bigger is always better. More is always better. Competing with the Jones’ is simply the way of life.

Not us. Not this family. Not any longer.

BluezMoon, the prequel is our place to scream to all the zombies walking around out there that we are AWAKE and ALIVE and we REFUSE to be normal. Normal is boring. Normal is sleepwalking. Normal is emotionless. This family of four wants adventure, to be fully receptive to life, and to feel everything in its raw state.

We have removed our children from the public school system. We are now in the process of “unschooling” them in order to raise more well rounded and balanced members of society that know how to survive in the world by the time they reach adulthood. The next step is for us to expose them to more than this sleepy town we have called home for so many years. There is a BIG world out there for them to experience. We intend on making that happen.

Throughout the course of the next year (2008), we will buy/sell/trade/give away the large majority of our earthly possessions. We will sell our sticks and bricks (more like vinyl) home — the only home my children have ever known — and start living in a bus that we will buy and convert into a home. We will spend the next year working through the plan and getting ready to actually start LIVING the way we are intended to live. We will go wherever the wind takes us. Our backyard will constantly be changing. We will make more friends than we can imagine possible. We will experience life in a way that is natural and nurturing, yet so foreign to most of the people on the Earth.

BluezMoon, the prequel will give you an insight to what the first part of journey has in store for us. We will discuss all the aspects of preparing for such a life change. We will discuss, in further detail, our reasons for wanting to do this. We will rant and rave about things from time to time. We will be completely and brutally honest all of the time. We hope you stick around and watch our story unfold. More than that, we hope you are inspired and motivated to wake up and embark on your own journey.
